M.Sc. Clinical Psychology

Program Overview

The proposed M.Sc. Clinical Psychology programme marks a major academic expansion following the successful implementation of the 4-year B.Sc. Clinical Psychology programme at the university. This master’s degree responds to:

1.The rising prevalence of mental health issues in India

2.The acute shortage of trained mental health professionals

3.The NEP 2020 emphasis on multidisciplinary and practice-oriented learning

4.RCI’s recommended academic structure for postgraduate psychology programs

The program builds on strong theoretical grounding, case-based learning, practicum training,and specialization pathways, preparing graduates for advanced professional roles, supervised practice, and doctoral research.

The proposed postgraduate program is designed to meet current academic needs, national standards, and the increasing demand for mental health professionals in India.

In alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP 2020), UGC’s Curriculum and Credit Framework (2022–23), and the Rehabilitation Council of India’s (RCI) recommended academic structure for psychology education, this program provides a rigorous academic foundation, strong skill-based training, and specialized pathways that prepare students for advanced professional and research opportunities.

Program Outcomes

Clinical Assessment and Diagnosis

Students will be able to administer, score, and interpret standardized psychological tests and make accurate clinical diagnoses using established classification systems.

Students will demonstrate competence in planning and delivering evidence-based psychotherapies (e.g., CBT, behavior therapy, counseling) tailored to individual client needs.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility for Admission to the 2-Year M.Sc. Clinical Psychology Programme

Candidates with a B.Sc. Psychology Degree (3-Year Duration) A candidate shall be eligible for admission if they have successfully completed a B.Sc. Psychology degree of three years’ duration from a recognized university, with the following minimum marks:

General Category: Minimum 55% aggregate marks.
SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): Minimum 50% aggregate marks.

Candidates with BA Psychology or Graduation in Allied Health / Life Science Disciplines Candidates who have completed a BA Psychology or a BA/B.Sc./Professional degree in the following allied disciplines shall be eligible:

Life Sciences,B.Pharm,MBBS,BDS,BPT,BHMS,BAMS,Bachelor of Social Work (BSW),B.Sc. Home Science,BA Sociology Other relevant allied health sciences

Eligibility for Admission to the 1-Year M.Sc. Clinical Psychology (Advanced Track)

A candidate seeking admission to the 1-Year Advanced Track must satisfy the following conditions:

1. Successful completion of a 4-year B.Sc. Clinical Psychology OR 4-year BA/B.Sc.Psychology (Honours / Honours with Research) from a recognized university.
2. A minimum CGPA of 7.0, as stipulated under the UGC and NEP 2020 guidelines for eligibility into one-year postgraduate programmes.
3. Mandatory completion of a Research Thesis/Dissertation at the undergraduate (4th year) level.

Such candidates must have obtained a minimum of 55% aggregate marks in their qualifying degree.BRIDGE COURSE (MANDATORY FOR NON-PSYCHOLOGY GRADUATES) Students with BA /BSc.
